To Home Soil Waiting

Directed by

RISING ACT

Last October, Rising Act Films had the honor of filming the repatriation ceremony of Corporal Quentin McCall, USMC, who was killed in the Battle of Tarawa on November 23, 1943. After one of World War II's bloodiest battles in the Pacific, Corporal McCall was one of hundreds of Marines buried hastily on the remote island of Betio to be declared unrecoverable.

Thanks to the amazing work of History Flight, a non-profit dedicated to the recovery of America's war dead, McCall's remains were finally recovered and returned to his home state of Mississippi after nearly 78 years. History Flight invited us to cover this powerful and deeply meaningful ceremony and meet Corporal McCall's remaining family and friends who had waited so long to bring him home and lay him to rest with full military honors. On the anniversary of the Battle of Tarawa, we salute the work of History Flight, whose work continues "until they all come home".
